On May 1st, Nick took Maya and me to the airport for our trip to Utah. It was so hard to say goodbye to him and I felt terrible for taking Maya away, but I knew it wouldn't be long before we'd see him again. He is so attached to his girls! (& we're attached to him!)
The first flight was to Denver, Maya made a lot of friends and was in a really good mood for the entire flight. We sat in the front row of the plane so when people would board they would stop and talk to her. Her new thing is to stick her tongue out and then smile afterwards. It's so CUTE! The next flight went just as good and before we knew it we were in SLC! My parents met us at the gate and we were so excited to see them. Maya went right to my mom and loved her (Of course) but was a little hesitant with my dad. It took her a couple of days to warm up to him. That night we slept pretty good and my parents were nice enough to let us use their master "suite", there room is so big and nice! Thanks guys!
The next day my mom and I went to visit my Aunt Charlene and Aunt Carol, they were both excited to see the baby and we just caught up. Afterwards our car wouldn't start! I called my brother to see if he could talk me through charging it up through Carol's car, but it didn't really work out. We found out later it was the ignition switch and the car would be in the shop for the rest of the week. That night we went to my dad's softball game and I got to see the rest of my family. I can't believe how big my nieces and nephews are all getting! It was great to see Missy, Chad and Lindsey too. I think my dad won his game but I can't be sure because Missy and I were talking the whole time. :)
The next couple of days we just hung out at home because we didn't have a car but it was nice to just be with my parents. They loved have Maya there and I'm glad she was so much fun this time. The last couple of times she has been ornery! One day we went to Cafe Rio and I got a pork salad!!!!!! It was so yummy, I sure miss mexican food. It was great seeing Nick's mom, grandma, aunt, & brother's. Maya's uncles sure love her and Alex even held her for a long time! (He is scared to hold babies)
On Sunday night we got together with my grandma Alice, uncles, aunts, and cousins. My cousin, Jeff, and his wife had a baby two days after Maya was born. It was fun to see M and Avery interact and to compare them a little bit. She was a sweet, quiet, little girl...Maya on the other hand was being so noisy! She is saying, "Mama" now so she would say it quietly then slowly she'd get louder and louder until everybody's attention was on her. She loved it!
As usual, it was so hard to say goodbye. I love my family soo much and miss them all. My mom waited for us to get past security and I kept looking back to wave at her, it was so hard and I got really emotional. The flight home was horrible! Maya screamed for a lot of it and I think we made plenty of enemies on that flight.
I think I'll be picking up some Benadryl next time....
