I had so much fun celebrating my 25th birthday all of last week. Yes, I said all week. Birthdays were always made special in our family when we were growing up and it seems like they would just last and last. My oldest sister, Brenda, would start planning the festivities about a month ahead of her big day and she would also pass out lists of gifts she'd like. We would have to sign up on the sheet so she wouldn't get duplicates! I miss her so much. Anyway. I am not that extreme, I just like to torture my husband with it. If I don't get my way I can say something like, "Well, it IS my birthday this weekend...." and I usually get what I'm after. Nick got me some shoes, clothes, and he started working on our bedroom as a part of my gift. Basically he is putting the molding up around the windows, installing the floor molding, and working on our closets. Maya gave me a little card that she signed and scribbled on (With daddy's help, of course.) and an iTunes gift card.
We had a great time going to dinner at J. Alexander's on Friday. We had calamari for the appetizer, salad, and I had chicken while Nick had steak. We were too stuffed for dessert! It was so nice to get away for the night without Maya. Thanks Chandra and Jordan for watching her!
That night Maya woke up around 2:30 AM and was up until 5:00 or so. She is for sure getting another tooth, this time on the top! She is going to look so cute with 3 little teeth. When I got her out of bed her face was glistening with snot! That is the first sign of teething - for her anyway. It was so gross. She was pretty cranky and clingy on Saturday and was refusing to sleep all day. It reminded me of what it was like to have a newborn. Nick and I were really tired and snapping at each other a lot - which we never really do. It's a lot of work when she is not herself but it makes me appreciate how good of a little girl she usually is. We love her so much! I'm glad it was just one night and one day of crankiness!
Thanks to everyone for making my day special...the cards, gifts, phone calls, and ice cream were all great!
