Sewing Projects

I have been having so much fun with my new sewing machine! Never, ever, thought I'd say that. In high school I took a sewing class and my teacher finally had to ask me to not use the machine unless she was sitting next to me because I kept breaking them. I've never had much patience for "crafting" but while my mom was in town she taught me a good lesson, when you get flustered or annoyed with your project just walk away. So I have been doing that and also taking my time. I've had some pretty good results!

Maya's pj bottoms was my first project:

After a wash they turned into capris. It's okay, it's almost summer.

My mom wanted to show me how to do a shirt while she was here so we decided to work on a little nightgown for Maya. The arms were difficult but I really struggled with the neckline...as you can see! There is also a little pocket in the front.

My first project 'on my own'...a pair of pj bottoms for me. I was able to cut the pattern and sew it all in one day! I was very proud of myself :)

Finally, this is my favorite so far, a changing pad with a pocket for diapers and wipes, and velcro sewn on to keep it shut. It was pretty easy and I think it looks cute.

(Sorry, can't turn this picture right side up for some reason)

Love those chubby fingers on the side!

TADA!!! This has been a fun little hobby for me, I just wish there was a Joann's closer to my house...

That's really great! I have no idea how to sew clothes. However, some of the women in the ward have been quilting together. If you're up for it, you're always welcome to join us!
