Maya turned 6!

I can't believe we have a 6 year old! We had a great weekend celebrating. Instead of doing a party this year, Maya chose to go to the Toledo Zoo instead. So we woke up Saturday morning and headed out. (By the way, Cora slept from 9pm-8am that night...we actually had to WAKE her up in the morning so we could get going! Love that girl. Too bad it's not every night.) We had a fun time seeing most of the animals we wanted to, but ended up leaving around 1:45pm because of a rainstorm. That night Maya chose to have pizza for dinner and we watched an On Demand movie in the basement. It was so nice to have a day to spend together as a family. That night after the kids went to bed we decorated the living room with crepe paper, balloons, etc. What I love about Maya is that we could have probably just decorated for her and that would be enough, she still gets so excited about that kind of stuff. Sunday morning she came running in our room and wanted to open a few gifts. We told her to open the biggest box because it was something she could have for breakfast. She has been asking for Lucky Charms for a long time so we finally got her a box. She asked Josh for a hint on what was in the box and he said, "It sounds like...C-C-C-Cereal!" Then she got mad at him for giving it away, of course. After a nice day at church we came home and Nick made a nice dinner that Maya chose. We had grilled white fish, artichokes(her favorite food!), dad's famous rice and a chocolate cake for dessert. It's always fun to look back and remember what we were doing before our kids were born and now that Maya is getting older she likes to listen to our stories too. Maya is such a sweet young lady and has become very mature over the past few months, especially now that she is in school all day. We sure love you Maya!!
