We had a great time seeing all of our family this past week. We wish we could live closer to everybody so traveling wasn't such a pain. Maya was really good for about half of the trip and I think she was just worn out by the end and ready to go home. She has been doing great since we got back to Michigan, thank goodness! I will probably have a couple of gray hairs by the time I'm 25.
We got to CA on Saturday, June 30th after a very long flight. Thankfully it was a direct flight to LAX so we weren't tortured any longer than 4.5 hours. We were greeted by Grandma Pat, Papa Scott, and Aunt Jenna. It was really last and Maya was exhausted, here is a cute picture of her with Gramma Pat.
That night Maya went to bed around 12:00 PST and was up for the day at 3:45!!! I don't think I have ever been that tired in my life. We went on lots of walks to calm her down and spent the next 2 days relaxing, eating, and getting pampered. I got a pedicure and manicure with the girls while Nick watched Maya. Then he went golfing the next day with his dad while Pat and I made a trip to Babies R Us with Maya. We always have fun at that store!
We left to meet the rest of the family in Laguna Beach on Tuesday, it only took about an hour to get there. I love driving up the Pacific Coast Highway and just looking at the ocean, I would really like to live closer to it someday. We'll see. We met up with Gammi and Papa for lunch and it was just so good to see them. They are the sweetest people I know. Papa loved asking questions about his first great grandchild and taking her for walks around the beach and the pool.
The hotel room worked out perfectly. We had a huge bathroom so we were able to stick the crib in there and we got the rest of the room to ourselves. We didn't have to be super quiet because Maya couldn't hear us anyway. Maya met her Aunt Jody and her friend Gail for the first time and she also met Aunt Cathy and Uncle Jeff for the first time. We ate so much good food and 3 of the nights we were there Gammi and Papa called in the hotel babysitter for us so we could just enjoy dinner. We need to do that more often!
On Nick's birthday Maya was up at 4:45 and since we couldn't just let her cry I volunteered to take her outside for a walk so he could get some extra sleep. We went down to the lobby for about an hour and she just stared at the fireplace. Have you ever seen the movie, The Shining? It felt just like that hotel because there was absolutely nobody out of their rooms and nobody was working yet so it was just the two of us in this really quiet hotel. It was kinda creepy. Anyway, Maya got fussy again so I took her for a walk to Albertston's to get Nick a birthday card and some treats for his b-day. We got over there around 5:45 AM and they weren't open yet! I can't believe how early it was. Nick was able to go kayaking on his birthday then he came back and we went swimming and just hung out until dinner.
It's good to be home but we miss everybody already. I will post more pictures below. Sorry if this post is all over the place!
