Halloween Night and Other Events
We had a fun but busy weekend, as usual. Friday night, Nick got home from work around 4:00 and was at the church by 4:45 to meet the young men for the scout camp-out. He loves camping and always spends a lot of time making sure he has each and every little piece of equipment for the night. I can't believe how much time and effort he puts into one over-night event, but that's just how Nick is. Backtracking a little, on Thursday night we were cleaning up dinner and getting ready to go get some last minute things for Nick's trip when Maya decided she was finally ready to walk! She took about 7 steps!! We were so excited and, of course, had to grab the camera. Once we had the camera all set up she was more interested in that then in walking. So, we haven't captured her walk yet. She still prefers to crawl but I have caught her walking on her own a couple of times since then, and without any coaxing from us.
Anyway, Friday night Maya and I were busy making cupcakes for the Cub Scouts Pack Meeting so I didn't feel like making dinner. I was craving something that I haven't had in a long time...Taco Bell. I decided to let Maya get a soft taco, not something her daddy would probably think about giving her. She gobbled the greasy mess up! She is a pretty good eater so I think she liked something bad for a change. That night we turned the heater up to 70 degrees! Nick is always hot at night and I am always freezing, I don't see why I have to suffer constantly! Anyway, he was gone so we rebelled and had tacos and heat.
Saturday we spent the day together as a family. We all napped then we went to a pumpkin patch and picked us each out a pumpkin. It was FREEZING outside but Maya didn't care, she was so mesmerized by the plastic blown-up characters they had. She would see one and make the cutest noise. Then we dressed her up in her costume, a lady bug, and went to our Ward Halloween Party. Maya ate more junk; i.e. doughnuts, and stayed up too late but was in a really good mood. Then yesterday we spent the day carving our pumpkins and making Gammi G's homemade pasta sauce. It just simmers all day long so the whole house smelled good. We had the Nightmare Before Christmas DVD playing in the background and pretended to know all the words to the songs. We did pretty good, I guess.
Here are some pictures of the weekend. I will add more of Maya from Halloween day. We plan on taking her around the block to trick or treat and get US some candy! :) I made the mistake of giving her some of a Kit Kat bar the other day and now whenever I have a red piece of paper or anything red she drops everything and chases me for some chocolate! It was hilarious the other night, she had her pacifier in and when she saw I had candy she chucked the binky across the room and pulled herself up on my jeans. That girl loves chocolate already!

You guys are the pumpkin carving champs! I can't believe how good those look! Mine look like Benjamin could have done them. I still had fun making them, though. Happy Halloween!
