I love that Maya is starting to talk a lot and copy everything we do. Although she has been a challenge lately with countless tantrums and lots of middle of the night wakings she has redeemed herself, somewhat, through the cute things she says.
Here are a few:
"Oh, woooowwww"
"Oh, Cool"
"Nice"
An example of the above, yesterday I took Maya to the grocery store and while pulling her out of the car she kept saying "Bayooo" (Balloon) and pointing to the sky. I thought she was crazy because I didn't see a balloon anywhere. Finally I see it and tell her how smart she is for spotting it first and she says, "Oh, wow. Cool. Nice." I just cracked up!
Here are some more words/phases she has picked up.
"I know!" I think she partially knows what this means too, which makes it even more exciting. Tonight after I put her to bed I whispered, "I love you" and she replied, "I know". What the!?!? It was pretty much the funniest thing ever, now if only I can get her to say "I love you, too". Maybe in a couple of months.
I must say this a lot to Maya because it was the first phrase that she picked up. The phrase is: "I said stop!" She usually says this while playing with her babies, teddy bear, or the kitties. What a stinker! She is already so bossy.
"Ewww, stinky" she likes to say this after she sniffs her toes, even if she just had a bath and they are clean. She scrunches up her nose and makes the cutest face.
She is growing up so fast. I love being able to communicate more with her but still find it challenging to figure her out. She'll be happy one moment and then blow up two seconds later, anything could ignite a meltdown. I guess the trick is to figure out what ticks her off BEFORE the explosion. That's a toddler for ya!
I took her to her 18 month appointment today (even though she is almost 20 months now) and can't believe how much she hates that place! Do you think they can remember visiting the doctor's office months ago?? I wouldn't be surprised, she doesn't seem to forget anything. Anyway, she is still a little thing but very healthy and strong. Here are her stats.
Weight: 23 pounds 4 ounces (25% percentile)
Length: 32 1/4 inches (75% percentile)
We love you Maya!

Tara - It is crazy how fast the kids grow up and then you wonder where the time went. Maya is such a cutie. She is a good mix of you and Nick :) It is so fun to keep in contact through a blog.
Conversing with your child is the best! What a smart girl! I'm glad your back, we really need to get together.
