So Far...so good

Things have been a little stressful at our house lately. We have had a ton of anxiety around the issues of Maya getting off the pacifier while she sleeps and also transitioning her into a big-girl bed. Sometimes I forget how great little M is about adapting to different situations - she always does really well when we go on vacation and will usually sleep anywhere as long as she has her bear.

Well, over the past year or so she has gotten really attached to her pacifier. We finally decided (probably later than we should've) that Maya doesn't need it anymore. I don't want her to be 3 years old with a binky in her mouth. While Nick was finishing up her new room and setting up her new furniture I was working on getting her off the binky. We finally got her trained to sleep without it at night-time after about a week. The nap took a little longer, maybe a week and a half. She is doing great!

Then Nick completey finished her room and we decided to give her new bed a try. Maya did not like me to get in the bed with her to read her bedtime stories. She was yelling for "Daddy" the whole time. So Nick came in and gave it a shot. She thought it was playtime and just jumped on the bed and played with him. So, that night we just gave up and put her in her crib. The next day I was so motivated to get her to sleep in her room. I started at naptime and turned the lights down, her fan for white noise on, and brought a chair in to read her some stories. She liked this set up much better. After reading 3 stories I could tell she was sleepy so I laid her down and she slept for 2.5 hours!!! Same thing last night, she slept for 12 hours in her new bed and didn't wake up once! Nick thinks it's because of how awesome her room looks and how hard he worked on it :) I'm sure that's it. Here is a picture of the bed we got from IKEA. It works out great because after Nick istalled the toddler bed railing it reminded me of a crib so maybe she feel pretty secure. She also won't get out of the bed until I come in and get her she just waits and calls out "Mamma? (where) Are you?!?" I'm sure this will change soon.

I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have her in her own room. Now we can focus on "Baby Brother's" room and get it all settled before he arrives. Speaking of the baby, I have had a blast this past week shopping for a couple of outfits and things for a BOY. Still can't believe it's a "he". This is a great time to buy spring/summer things because everything is obviously on clearance. We are so excited!

Truly, kudos to Nick for a great room - I love the yellow walls and the white furniture - very fun, but still a great "big girl" room. Makes me think I should really get rid of the filing cabinet in Bella's room! :)

How fun Mya is in a big bed. Ellie also wouldn't get out of her bed till I came to get her, it was so nice. It has only been the last few months that she gets out on her own. It really was nice, but Haven is going to be a different story. She will be in her crib for as long as possible!!

Can I request pictures of the new room, it sounds so cute! We just made a trip to IKEA, on our way there Seth said, "why didn't we call Nick and Tara" as we drove right by Livonia! It's a fun place.
