Halloween Happenings

We had a great Halloween despite Nick and I both being sick. Little Maya felt good and had fun dressing up in her "princess" costume. She was really Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz but I guess she felt like a little princess every time she dressed up because she'd walk around saying, "Oooh....Pitty Pincess".

We started off the festivities the week before Halloween with our ward's Fall Harvest party which was a lot of fun. The kids got to go from room to room and do different games to get candy. Then afterwards they had chili, hot dogs, and dessert. Followed up by a live band! Maya REALLY loves dancing lately so she was way into the music and kept getting her daddy to come out and dance with her. If you know Nick, you know he is pretty shy but he'd do anything for Maya! We were only going to stay for a couple of minutes but ended up leaving after they played one of the final songs! We had a good time.

On Thursday, Oct. 30th we went to our weekly storytime at the library and this week the kids got to dress up in their costumes. I remembered hearing that the kids would get to walk around and trick or treat but when I got there I was hoping and praying they'd wait until the END of storytime to do this. You can eat in the library and if Maya gets candy she is going to want to eat it! She has a major sweet tooth and definitely knows what candy is. To my dismany, after only 2 stories the teacher told us we'd be going trick or treating now. Luckily most of the librarians passed out non-edible treats like pencils and toys. Some of the kids in her class on the otherhand passed out suckers and other treats and she just couldn't handle it! I had to take her out of the room because she was crying so bad. I'll add some pictures of her walking around with her little pumpkin, and what kind of mother would I be to NOT take a picture of Maya throwing a fit. :) That will be included later on. That afternoon after nap time we headed over to Benjamin's house for a Birthday party/Halloween party. The kids had a great time decorating cookies, playing, and dressing up like mummies. Michelle's bday falls on Hallween, that would just be the coolest day to have a birthday!!

The next day, Halloween, Nick was able to come home a little early and we all took a little rest before our big night. Then we carved our pumpkins, ate dinner, and got Maya dressed. Nick and I were feeling pretty miserable with this nasty cold so we just stayed close to home. We sure do love our neighborhood! Many of the older people know Maya because when it's nice outside we go for lots of walks. They all just gushed over her and she loved every minute of it. Many people gave out full size candy bars which made me feel like a real cheap-o. We missed most of the Trick or Treaters anyway because we went out for awhile. We have so much candy leftover.

We had so much fun! I love my little family so much!! Pictures will come soon.
