Playing Catch-Up

I don't really know where to start so I am going to look through my pictures to see what we did in May.

I took both of the kids to the zoo and boy was that a lot of work! Josh was great and never made a peep but Maya was unusually cranky and wasn't much fun to be around. We tried to make the best of it though and she did really enjoy seeing the animals. Her favorite was the reptile house. We were in there for about 20 minutes!

My favorite part was seeing the Polar bears go crazy at feeding time. They were all over the place!!

We've been working on getting Josh on a schedule and he seems to be doing pretty good with it. He usually wakes around 7, eats, and then "plays" for awhile, then down for a nap at 9 for an hour or so. (If we're lucky) He has been going to bed between 8 and 9 pm and usually wakes up once to eat. His longest stretch during the night has been 11 hours! We were pretty surprised. But on average he usually goes about 6-7 hours at night. Josh is the best baby ever! I can't get over it. He never cries and he is always content - I guess we deserve it because of how Maya was when she was his age :)Here are some pictures of him from May:

Look at those chubby legs!!

He is getting so big!

My sister came to visit us 2 weeks ago and we had a blast!! She is such a good aunt -Maya had so much fun with her and cried when we dropped her off at the airport. She wanted to go with her on the plane. After we got into the car she said, "MISSY DON'T LEAVE ME!!!" It was heart-breaking. Only a few more years and we will be closer to home! We miss all of our family members. We had Josh blessed while Missy was here but she offered to take a noisy Maya out into the hallway so she didn't even get to hear the blessing! We were glad she was here anyway. Nick did a great job and, of course, made me cry. It was a beautiful blessing. During the week we just hung out and caught up with each other. We took Maya to "Up" (Dumb) and did a little shopping at the outlet stores. Here are some pictures:

Thanks for visiting us Missy! We miss you!!

Maya is doing a lot better with Josh lately and it's cute to see her interact with him. He likes to watch his sister dance around and I can usually catch him smiling at her even though she doesn't realize it. She is also including him more in her daily playtime as you can see:

She is also doing really well with using the potty. Yesterday we were trying to get her to go before bed but I don't think she really needed to go because she usually doesn't fight us when she really has to go. Anyway, here is the conversation she had with Nick...

Nick: Maya, you need to come sit on the potty.
Maya: No dad
Nick: You need to at least TRY and go before bed.
Maya: No dad, it's too dangerous.

She is so funny, she likes to use different adjectives but doesn't use them in the right context. The other day I asked her to help me clean some noodles off the floor and she said, "No way, it's too spicy."

Benjamin does the same thing with adjectives! He'll tell me his food is too hot when it's straight out of the fridge, etc. So funny. So, did you mean the movie Up was dumb or taking Maya to see it was dumb? Because I've heard only good things about that movie.

The movie was dumb! It had a cute message in the end but it was too scary for Maya. She is always good at the movies because she gets popcorn and root beer :)
