How Maya spent her Christmas money...

On Thursday we decided to get out of the house, take the kids bowling, and then go to the mall to do a little shopping - along with everyone else in Detroit. Well, we pull up to the bowling alley and Maya is timid of course, but she is fine going into the building. We walk in and immediately she says, "I'm too scared. I don't want to bowl anymore." What the!?! Turns out she didn't like it because they had the lights out. She is definitely going through an interesting phase right now where she is scared about everything. It's frustrating as a parent because you want your kids to experience different things. So we decided to leave and head over to the mall to give Build-A-Bear a shot. That was right down Maya's "alley" although she was scared with how loud the machine that fills up the stuffed animal was. Seriously? We were trying to convince her to get this adorable bunny but she chose a pink unicorn.

After getting her new baby filled with stuffing she got to bathe and groom her. This was by far Maya's favorite part of the whole process.

With help from dad, she picked out some clothes and shoes for the unicorn. While standing in line we saw another cute dress and asked Maya if she liked it. She said yes and went to put the first one back on the shelf. She was amazed when we told her she could get both! She was such a good girl. I was impressed with how she was behaving especially after seeing some of the other kids in the store.

It was a fun experience for all of us...even Josh. Okay, not really but he was a good boy and let his sister have fun.

Nick finished the drywall and put together all of my shelves for the laundry room. There will be a total of 3 shelves in there.

Yesterday we decided to call around to different bowling alleys to see if they have the lights on or off during the day. We found one right down the street from us so we were off! We walked into the building and Maya gets scared again. So we told her she could just watch us do it. She was fine with that but wouldn't bowl until I told her she could get french fries afterwards. She loves food just like her parents :) She pushed the ball down the ramp and before it even hit any pins she turns to me and says,"Okay...can we go get some french fries now?" She is so funny. She ended up having fun and we took her to McDonald's afterwards. We were so happy she gave it a try. She even mentioned that she'd like to do it again.

Eating her happy meal.

Later in the afternoon we noticed that Josh was wheezing and having a hard time breathing so Nick called Urgent Care to see what they suggested we do. They told him that they have breathing treatments available so I took him in. We were quite worried because Nick had a lot of asthma attacks as a baby and had to be brought into the ER quite a bit. The doctor said he thinks it was just from all of the smoke that J was around at the bowling alley. He ended up getting a treatment and we were home after being there for about 2 hours. Poor boy was very tired and sick. So it looks like we won't be bowling for awhile. We love him so much.

Overall, it was a great pre-weekend and now we are just home and not leaving for the rest of the day!

Poor Josh! Where did you go bowling? The place we go doesn't allow smoking, at least not during the day. Glad to see Maya ended up enjoying it, though.

Love all your recent posts. The pictures are great. You look so good. I am seriously missing you guys, and felt really sad to see the 'ladies pic' at the Dangerfields... I wish I had been there too.

Went to a place called "Merri-Bowl"...where do you guys go? I'm sure she'd like to do it again but I don't want to risk harming Josh.

We miss you guys too, Carla! You need to come back for a visit soon and see all of your old friends.

Really, Merri-bowl?!? That's where we go. There wasn't any smoke at all! The place was packed with kids and not one smoker. How odd. I truly thought smoking was against the rules there. We went around 2pm, maybe you got there later, when more adults were there.

We were there around lunch time and it smelled pretty strong. It's probably just soaked into the carpet and walls...it was bad enough to give Josh an asthma attack anyway!

Wow the effects of even a little second hand smoking are awful! Thanks heavens for the Word of Wisdom. I love her little unicorn

Ellie has that same unicorn! I tried to talk her into a bunny too. Mom said Joshy has been sick again. I hope you get it figured out and he starts feeling better soon. Love ya.
