Goodbye Pippen and Penelope

When we got back from California we decided it was time to make a serious effort in finding a home for the cats. With winter just around the corner, and cat dander being one of Josh's main asthma triggers, it just couldn't wait any longer. I put another ad on Craigslist and actually received an email the following morning. An older woman who was an empty-nester, and had no other animals contacted me about the cats, and requested a time to meet them. She came the following Wednesday and immediately fell in love with them! Meeting her made me feel much better about the whole situation, and I told her we could could go through with the adoption. The next few days were hard. I kept seeing them around the house and I knew they wouldn't be around much longer. Their new owner picked them up on Tuesday night. I was hoping Nick would be home early so Maya and I could be away from the house when the pick up happened, but that didn't work out. We were all there to say goodbye and put them in her car. I was a complete mess! It was really embarrassing actually - I didn't think I would be that emotional. It was a very sad day. Maya didn't really cry, she just moaned a lot. It was kind of bizarre, maybe she wasn't sure how to deal with the situation.

It's been over a week now and each day has gotten easier. Their owner is awesome and sends me updates every couple of days and we even got pictures of them on Sunday.

M and Pippen. I didn't get any final pictures of Penelope because she avoided us for the most part! I think she is probably pretty happy with the change of pace...no more kids chasing her.
