Nick picked out a beautiful tree this year! We had fun decorating it with the kids. Josh was really into it at first but got bored after awhile. It was cute because he'd come get an ornament from me, put it on the tree, then raise his hands in the air and say, "YEAH!" Then he'd toddle back over to me and say "Mow" and do the sign for more. Maya wouldn't let Josh hold the glass ones and would say, "Sorry bud, this one is glass buddy" when I'd hand her one. She is a sweet big sister. (Most of the time.)
I love how our tree turned out! I especially love that our kiddos decorated the entire bottom half, and that Maya did most of the ribbons. They are such sweet kids.
On December 17th Maya had her last day of preschool, and her Christmas program. The parents all came back for the last 20 minutes of class to list to the kids sing their Christmas carols. Maya did a great job and sang her little heart out.
We saw Santa on December 22nd. Josh was not a fan but was super cute waiting in the long line to see him. He just stood there with his hands in his pockets like a big boy.
Maya, on the other hand, was a pro and had waited a long time for that moment. She asked for a Baby Alive doll for her, and a new baseball hat for her brother.
Because Nick still had 2 vacation days left he decided to take them at the beginning of his Christmas break, so he has been off since December 22nd! We love having him home! He is a great help with the kids, and since we both love naps we take turns sleeping when he's home. We found a lot of things to do with all of the vacation time. We painted nails, decorated a gingerbread house, and just hung out. It was great, and Maya was in Heaven since we were all home a lot and she got so much attention!
On the 24th we spent the day getting ready for Santa by cleaning the house, making chocolate chip cookies, and putting reindeer food out on the lawn to ensure that Rudolph would find our place. We also opened our traditional PJ and a new Christmas book from Gramma Dotty and Papa Tony.
Feeding the Reindeer!
Afterwards we went to dinner at our friend's house and boy did they spoil us! They made steak, chicken, baked potatoes, and some other yummy things. We didn't get home until 10 pm, which is just about 3 hours past our kids' bed time so they were super tired and ready to sleep. They did, however, sleep in until about 8am. Maya was so excited and kept yelling, "Santa came guys! This is the best Christmas ever!"
We tried not to overdo it this year because we are taking a family trip to Disneyworld in January, but between our gifts and those sent from family members they got so spoiled! Josh was much more into it this Christmas, he received about 15 new cars/trucks and loved each of them! Every time he would open one up he would say, "OH WOW!" and would bring the package to either Nick or me to have it taken out. Maya was a speed demon opening her presents, even when we persisted that she slow down, and didn't quite understand why she was done before everyone else! They both loved all of their presents...thanks everybody!
Baby Alive...haven't seen much of her since Christmas morning!
There are a few things you should know about Josh. He loves baseball hats, pretend phones, and cars. He is one happy camper with these gifts!
Nick's sister works for Mattel so she sends the kids some pretty awesome gifts. This year she sent J a matchbox car that has his name and picture on it! Pretty sweet!
HOLY FETCH! LIP GLOSS! How did Santa know!?! But seriously, I have never seen anybody so excited about lip gloss.
J loves life right about now.
Hope you all had a great Christmas!!!
