Maya has been so funny this summer. Every day I would try and plan something fun to do, but she was content on having a playdate, or just hanging out at home. We did go do a couple of fun things, but it was definitely a low-key summer! She played with our neighbor friends Laura and Leah at least once a day. Josh had fun playing with them too, even though he was slightly outnumbered. They played in the water, caught frogs, made "ant restaurants", built huge forts in the basement, and just had fun together.
Maya wanted to keep the frog as a pet. She was so sad when he jumped out of his cage as they were trying to clean it out.
I don't know what we will do without these girls to play with! Maya is done with school every day at 11:30am but Laura and Leah don't get out until 4pm, then they go to dance 3 nights a week. They had a lot of fun this summer.
We went to the farm at Kensington one week day. There were a lot of summer camp kids there on "tours" so we just tagged along with their groups. We got to learn a lot about their horses and Maya got to pet one for a long time. As I was holding her up to pet the horse he sneezed on me, twice. It was disgusting! But at least he didn't do it on Maya because she would have been hysterical. That's why I will always carry baby wipes with me! Josh is my little wimp. He was so scared when this big pig covered in mud kept trying to get him through the fence. Josh was trying to pretend that he wasn't scared at first but then he started shaking every time the pig would snort at him. It was kinda funny.
Pretending to like the stinky goats
Maya went to her friend's birthday party and was so excited that she got to wear her "fancy clothes".
Josh has been CRAZY about puzzles lately. He will sit and work on these all day long. Maya usually joins in as well.
On Friday we had some very hot weather. My friend Tiffany called to see if we wanted to go the park and play at the splash pad, of course we went and had a great time! Our last official play date of the summer!
Tiff found a frog and Maya was so happpy! She didn't want to let him go.
Josh was a little wild man in the water! Usually when we go he just sits on the blanket and eats snacks, but this time he was all over the place! I was so proud of him. Here he is after pouring water over his head.
Spencer and Josh are about a month apart. Sometimes they get along, sometimes they don't! That day they were really cute together, and Josh was so excited because "S'encer has my same shoe-ons!!" He always calls his shoes "shoe ons" because we usually tell him, "go get your shoes on!"
Cute baby Andrew. My kids love him.
On Saturday morning we woke up and decided to take the kids to ride go-carts. It was a lot of fun! Nick rode with Maya and poor Josh had to go with me. I drove so slow that Nick passed me up twice. The one time I did try to speed up and go fast I was too distracted to notice Josh had slipped down under the seatbelt and was nearly on the floor of the car. So that is my excuse for why I drove like a grandma! Maya played on a trampoline for awhile, and then we also played some arcade games. The kids were into more than I thought they would be.
