We had such a wonderful Easter weekend. Nick had Friday off so we focused on the yard that day. We got the back deck painted, weeds pulled, trees trimmed, and Nick put some new soil and grass seeds in some areas in the yard that are bare. Can't wait to have new grass in those spots! My tulips are coming up that I planted last Fall and I love them so much! We have purple, pink, yellow, and orange - they are so beautiful. We also found a new patio set for the deck from IKEA. As much I love that place, I hate it just the same. We had to go back 3-4 times for various reasons, and after Nick started putting together the chairs he noticed one of the screws was stripped. So today the kids and I took another trip back, I think we're finally set now!
Anyway, I will rewind back to Thursday because I had the great opportunity to go to Maya’s school and help out with their Spring party. Those kids have so much energy and are going the entire 3 hours they are in school. Their teachers are heaven sent! I got to help the kids make biscuit bunnies then I was in charge of baking them. I also helped hide and fill Easter eggs for a little hunt they did at the end of class. It was fun to be in class with my girl because she is still excited, and not embarrassed, to have me in there. She kept waving for me to come sit by her whenever I had a free minute. She is such a sweet girl.
I have so many mixed feelings about her growing up, mostly it makes me really sad!
Okay, then Friday we worked on the yard. Saturday we put the patio furniture together, “dialed” Easter eggs as Maya calls it, and just hung out at home.
I love Josh's face here - he has been so funny lately.
Josh really wanted to help Nick in the yard so he went into the garage and got his helmet and shovel and got to work! Only problem was, every time he bent over we got a full moon shot! I love this little man.
Sunday rolled around and the kids were so excited they got up early and found their baskets without us! I was kind of annoyed, actually. I wanted to be there when they found them so I could, you know, take a picture or something. They got some cute stuff and that kept them busy until we went to church.
Maya's basket was hidden in the half bath.
Josh's was in the front closet.
All ready for church.
I was lucky enough to teach my Primary class about Christ’s Resurrection. Most of the kids knew the story so it was basically a good reminder of why we celebrate Easter. This time of year is always a bit difficult because my sister, Brenda, passed away the end of March in 1999. However, I was able to bring a picture of her to class and talk about how I know that because of Christ’s Atonement I will be able to see her again. I felt like it was a special moment in class that we could share together.
When we got home from church we started preparations for Easter dinner – CafĂ© Rio style! Maya and Josh went outside and hid Easter eggs for a hunt we’d have after we ate. We had our friends the Hamblin’s over for dinner. My kids absolutely adore their little girl, Molly. She is such a cutie.
Easter Egg Hunt!
Hope you all had a great Easter, too!
