Funny sayings....

I just love listening to the funny things my kids come up with. Maybe they are just funny to me...? Either way, I wanted to blog about them so I can look back in a few years and have a good laugh. Josh: I asked him if he was a good boy and he responded, "Well, when Santa comes to town I a good boy." While I was changing Cora's diaper, he watched and looked a little puzzled, and then he said, "HEY! Why is Cora's weiner all squished?" We were playing cars the other day and this was the conversation we had: "Lightning the Queen, I want to take you on a date." (Josh) "Where are you going to take me?" "Maybe Old McDonald's house." (Josh) "Oh no, we need to go somewhere more fancy." "Well how about Weo's?" (Josh) Leo's is a place we go sometimes that has coney dogs, sandwiches, soup, etc. I guess he thought it was fancy because it's a sit down place. It's much fancier than McDonalds! When my mom came out to visit this summer she helped J get up on the potty. He sat there for awhile then said, "Well, I guess my weiner is being shy." One morning he sounded really congested and was having a hard time breathing. He came up to me and said, "sounds like I'm not speaking very well, mama. Maybe I should breath?" J is always the first up out of all our kids. He always comes in our room for a little snuggle before the girls get up. One morning Cora was joining our quiet time. Josh put his arms around both of us and said, "I just love you two gowls." (girls) I said, "What about Maya?" and he responded, "No, I don't fink so, I fink she's kinda mean." "Daddy do you like to have the day off and just belax?" (relax) He loves to watch these videos on Youtube where a guy reviews all of the Cars toys that are on the market. He opens the package and talks about what each car is made out of, what is included in the package, etc. I have found Josh a few times playing cars on his own and talking just like the guy on the video. "I have a Lightning McQueen here. He is made out of plastic and this car toy also includes instructions in English." Yesterday, while we were playing he said, "Do you know Franfrisco (Francesco) is custom painted?" No, I didn't know that. Thanks, Josh and Youtube guy! Maya: Sadly, I don't have as many sayings from Maya because she is gone so much. I will say that she is learning a ton at school. We are just so happy with her progress. We went to Parent/Teacher conference last week and loved hearing about what she is like in class every day. Her teacher told us that she worked very hard on a packet that day and finished every page perfectly then she got to the last page and made a mistake. I guess this resulted in a huge meltdown in class. Thankfully, this was a one-time incident, and her teacher thought it was because it was the end of the week/day and she was worn out. But, she is quite the little perfectionist and I'm glad she takes such pride in everything she does. A couple of weeks ago during Family Home Evening, we were talking about the Ten Lepers. Maya said she remembered this story from church and decided to tell us everything she knew about it. At the end of the story, she looked a little confused while looking at the picture that went along with the scripture story and said, "I just don't understand why they are called Leopards, though. They don't have fur, spots, or a tail....." I LOVE HER. She came home from school one day and handed me her lunchbox and conveniently ran off into her bedroom. As I cleaned out her box I noticed that her carrots weren't even touched, but her other goodies were all gone. While we ate dinner that night we had this conversation: Me - "I noticed that you didn't eat any carrots today but that your cookies were all gone." Maya - "Oh, yeah. I didn't have a lot of time to finish them today." Me - "Well, that's fine but you need to eat your healthy things BEFORE you get to have your treat, okay?" If you don't eat your healthy stuff then I won't be able to send any more treats in your lunch. You want me to trust that you will make a good choice right?" Maya - She paused for a long time then said, "Well, mom, kids will be kids!" I love these kids so much. They drive me crazy but they are so special and smart!
