Happy Birthday Cora! (July 23, 2013)

It's a pretty big deal to turn 1! We have really enjoyed having this sweet baby in our home over the past year. The first couple of months were a challenge. I remember feeling like we weren't cut out for three kids, getting no sleep, and everything else going on in our lives. There were some really, really hard days/night, however, I wouldn't change anything. This has been an amazing year (and a bit of a blur).

2 weeks old

I am so grateful to be Cora's mom. She is an absolute angel on earth! We can't imagine life without her and her sweet personality. She is so funny, crazy, wiggly, happy, and just plain cute. Her special day landed on a Tuesday... we didn't do anything out of the ordinary. It was an usually cold and rainy/grey day for July, so we just stayed home and hung out. Right before Cora had an afternoon nap she finally decided to crawl! She's been attempting to crawl for about 2 months, but just hasn't been able to get it down. She would get up from bum to all fours then stick her left leg straight out, which would make it difficult to move forward. After that she'd plop back down on her bum. She finally figured out how to bend that leg and she is getting around fine now. The kids really get a kick out of it. For the first couple of days they loved trying to get her to crawl to them and would end up fighting about who she will crawl to next. After her nap I pulled her out of her crib and discovered that her first tooth had finally popped through. I was surprised that these 2 milestones happened on the same day. What a special Birthday!

That evening we went to watch Maya in her tap class then after that the kids chose to go to McDonald's for dinner. Maybe next year Cora will be able to choose for herself. We came home later and Cora got to open her gifts. She received a new bike helmet, a lady bug counting toy, and a blow up pool. (I love summer birthdays!) On Sunday night we had some friends over to celebrate with an easy dinner and cake/ice cream.

Facts about Cora:
Teeth: ONE!
Words: She loves to say, "HHIIIIII" to everyone. It's the cutest thing ever!
Favorite thing: She loves her binky and her soft white blanket
What makes her laugh: DADDY! She also thinks her brother and sister are pretty funny
Tricks: Crawls, pulls herself up to her knees, claps, and covers her face with her hands or a blanket to play peekaboo. She loves to get into Maya's jewelry box and her makeup for dress up time. We have caught her several times with lip gloss, bracelets, etc. She loves them!
Favorite food: She loves applesauce, cheese, yogurt, and quesadillas.
Nick names: She has SO many of these. We start with one and it snowballs into a million more! Here they are. Coco, coco krispie, cokey, cokey doke, cokey wokey, cokes, Cora dora, Coco Roberts, Roberts, Roberto, and Cokey Roberts. I'm not even kidding. Most of the names came from Nick. Sometimes it feels weird to call her by her given name.

Best buds...Josh and Luke

We love you, sweetheart!
