This summer has been wonderful so far! We had a great time visiting family in Utah in June. I know I haven't written about it yet, and I have a good excuse. I used my mom's camera while I was there and uploaded all of the pictures to my Costco account, so they aren't very accessible right now. I will work on that soon.
For now, though, I wanted to write a little about what we've been up to. In July/early August we took a few day trips to the lake with friends, went to the zoo with Carla and her kids, went to a fun magician show at the library, spent every Thursday night dancing and singing with the live bands that have come to our city's concert in the park series, had some play dates, Maya started tap lessons and loves it, we rode our bikes up and down Hines Drive with the kids, Kensington Farm, Nick and the kids camped in the backyard, we played in the blow up pool and slip'n'slide, and lots more fun stuff. Let's just say we are having a lot of fun this summer! The weather was really nice in July. Not a typical Michigan July with lots of humidity and mugginess. It was pretty comfortable and we took advantage of it. This month has started off cool for August, it usually doesn't get past the mid 70's. It's nice but I feel like we're getting robbed of our summer. I'd be happy with some more sunshine and heat (minus the humidity).
We're happy that our friends the Geddes Family moved back to Michigan from North Carolina a few months ago. Josh and Luke were born a few weeks apart and we wanted them to be little buddies, but then they took a job in NC and were gone for a few years. Now they're back and the boys get along great! They are really cute together. We're hoping that Kate and Cora will be good friends too, but I think more than anything they are going to be the trouble makers/busy bodies of the group. Maya fits in nicely as well, and loves to take care of the younger kids. The other day we were at the park and Maya volunteered to push Kate in the infant swing while Carla and I were chatting. Next thing we knew she was pushing Josh and Luke too. We were too busy talking to notice how overwhelmed she was getting running from the kiddie swing to push Kate, then back over to the older kids to push them. Finally she looked at us with some attitude and put her hands up in the air and said something like, "Well...I don't know why I am the only one pushing and you guys are just talking." Too feisty for her own good! But she sure is helpful.
Anyway, I can't believe that in a few short weeks it will be September, and we will be sending the kids off to school again.
