Race For the Cure

My friend, Chandra, called me a couple weeks ago and asked me to join her in running a 5K to support finding a cure for breast cancer. If you know me, you know I do not like running nor do I find it enjoyable. It took some convincing, something Chandra is very good at doing, but I ending up registering.

This morning (at 6:50 AM, mind you) we loaded up all of the babies and husbands in the car and headed for Detroit. It was mind-blowing to see so many thousands of people who were there to remember those who have passed on, celebrate those who are struggling with the disease now, and to also see those that were there to support a good cause. It was definitely a memorable experience and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. There were several different bands lined up on the sidewalks of the race and the band members would cheer us on. It got me so pumped up I almost made it a couple hundred feet without gasping for air. J/K Seriously though, I almost cried every time I saw a person who had a picture on their t-shirt of someone they had lost. It was really touching and even though I hate running I felt like it's the least I could do for what some of these people have to go through.

Now, I know you are all wondering what my time was on the race. Right? Okay, not really but it's funny because Chandra ran it in 25 minutes!!!!!!!! I did it in 45. Oh well, it was a lot of fun.

Here are some pics.
