Maya gave him a bunch of her toys and was reading a book to him. Josh is sick a lot and Maya is anything but compassionate when this happens. She is generally annoyed that plans need to be changed or that Josh needs to be cuddled with all day, so this was a real tender moment.
We had a great experience with M's swimming class this summer. It lasted every day for two weeks. Maya learned a lot and is now able to blow bubbles, put her face under, doggy paddle with help from a floaty device, and with a little help she can float on her back. By the end of the week she was usually ready for a break from class and one day she said it was too hot outside to go swimming. Another time she said the water was too cold and made her "shigger". Luckily she had some cute kids in her class that loved her and made a big fuss every time she did anything. One little girl wanted to hold her the entire time they were in the pool. I asked her why she was being held the whole time and she said, "I don't know. Kimmy must like me or something."
This was the first day of classes and M was beyond thrilled to be there! Too bad they didn't get to swim that day because the bottom of the pool was too foggy.
This was the same day - they practiced pool safety instead of getting in. Maya was jumping up and down because she got to throw a floating device into the pool to save someone. Funny how the smallest things excite her so much.
Good job Maya!
Nick's birthday was on the 7th and we had a great night! Too bad it was on a weeknight but at least he was at home and not at school. That day we did some shopping, baking, and decorating in anticipation of daddy's arrival. Maya helped bake a cake and unfortunately I wasn't thinking straight and didn't have her eat lunch first. I told her she needed to eat some turkey slices before she could have a taste of the cake batter and she decided to spread the batter on the turkey while my back was turned.
Maya picked out some water guns for Nick and was so ecstatic she could hardly stand it! All day long she wanted to call and tell him what her present was. I'm surprised she made it through dinner and cake without spilling the beans. Nick acted like it was the best present in the world and they played outside with them before bed.
Socks...pretty exciting stuff.
Thanks to everyone for sending cards and calling my man on his bday!
