Christmas morning

Maya and I were up a little after 7am to see if Santa came or not. She was so happy to see a note on the table from him. All of the treats/milk had been gobbled up! I love how she looks when she gets up in the morning. So sweet.

Josh didn't get up until closer to 8am so we snuck downstairs(Nick joined us) to see what our Christmas looked like! We let her pick one little gift out of her stocking before we had to get ready for church. She chose a little box that had a princess necklace in it.

After that we got ready for Sacrament meeting. What I loved most about that morning was that neither of the kids complained one time that we had to leave the house to go to church. I was expecting that because they are kids after all! The meeting was very nice and the spirit was strong. The Primary kids closed out the meeting by singing "Silent Night" and I tried not to, but ended up crying. I'm so grateful for our Savior, that He loves us so much and that we have this wonderful time to remember Him and focus on his life. Maya came back to our pew after singing and kept saying, "What is it mommy? Why are you crying?" Then Josh was concerned, so I tried to quickly explain what I was feeling before the closing prayer, that they weren't sad tears but happy ones because I'm thankful for Christ. What sweet kids!

We got home and Nick and I slowly changed into something more comfortable while the kids opted to keep their Sunday clothes on. It was fun to tease them and take forever because they were dying to open their gifts.

(This was taken Christmas night) Josh got a train table for his big gift. It is so awesome! He was playing non-stop with that thing for 3 days straight. Right when he'd wake up in the morning he'd say, "Wanu play trains?" It's worn off a little now, and I think mostly because it's in the basement and we haven't been down there much lately. I'd like to make some room in his bedroom so he can play with it more.

Maya is our little crafty girl. She is always creating something.

I found these cool hats for Maya and Nick. My D-town cuties!

Josh loves playdough and the Cars movie...so to combine the two!?! Unreal!

I convinced Nick that Maya would just love this Doodle Bear that you can use washable markers on. She made one tiny drawing on it and wanted us to machine wash it immediately because she didn't like how it turned out. Then I had to explain to her that she has to do a lot of drawings on it before we can wash it all off, which just frustrated her even more. Oh girls are so much fun!

Her 'big' present was a new pink digital camera. Last year when I got my new camera I gave her my old one which she used all year long. She loves taking pictures and is really quite careful with the camera. She has been taking tons of videos and pictures with it over the past few weeks. She just loves it - even though when she first opened it she said, "Well, it's not a Hello Kitty camera but it's pink so I still like it." What a stinker!

My favorite gift was from Nick. He got me a Kindle Fire and it is amazing! I had previously asked for a Kindle or some type of reader tablet, but he decided to get the one that has web, video streaming, games, etc. on it. I was completely surprised! I have been using it a lot more than I thought I would. I check and reply to emails, listen to music, read books, look up recipes for dinner, and so much more. I very rarely sit down at the computer anymore. I feel bad I just got him a bike pump :(

I forgot to include some pictures of events that took place BEFORE Christmas. We made sugar cookies and decorated them one night. Thank you Pillsbury for making dough and frosting without any milk products!!! Josh was happy to take part in this fun activity.

We went to visit Santa at the mall. Maya told him she wanted a Barbie doll this year (news to us), and Josh asked for trains.

We also decorated the tree. Last year the kids were really into the decorating but this year it was hard to get them involved. Not sure why? But they did each put up a few ornaments.
